reverberations
In my Reverberations, I refract and repeat biomorphic shapes to create uncanny Rorschach-like arrangements that suggest processes of introspection. Embroidered in brightly colored thread on dark contrasting fabrics, the silhouetted conglomerations teeter between representation and abstraction. They appear to be growing or transforming; intentionally unclear whether they represent a singular item composed of repeated forms or a community of similar entities.
If the organic forms in this work remained individual, they would be vulnerable, soft, and fleshy. However, when multiplied, the group adopts a facade of strength and solidity. Considering how we are distinct bodies that exist within communities, my Sirens and Reverberations series explore how repetition changes the way we interpret the singular individual vs. the plural.
